First Aid at Work Trainers Course
Duration: 3 days Course Details: This First Aid Trainer/Assessor Course is for persons who wish to provide Training and Assessing for all First Aid at Work Courses to the Health & Safety Executive Standards. This course will equip the successful candidate with the necessary skills to teach the following courses: First Aid at Work (Full)
First Aid at Work (Refresher) First Aid Appointed Persons Emergency First Aid Public Lifesaver – style First Aid Short CPR Courses Baby and Child First Aid Courses Update Courses Please note this course does not give candidates a licence to teach FAW courses. Individuals must obtain HSE Approval or work for a Company that is HSE Approved. Pre-requisites: Have a current HSE First Aid at Work Certificate and documented experience of First Aid at Work in the Workplace. Bring with you a portfolio of experience in the first aid field. AED (Defibrillation) Trainer Course Duration: 3 days This course is to qualify a person to teach Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Courses with a variety of different types of defibrillators. The course includes the following: Aim To provide selected health care professionals with the skills required to successfully deliver BLS and AED training to provider level within their localities. Learning Outcomes By the end of this course successful candidates will be able to: Answer questions on the basic anatomy and physiology of the respiratory and circulatory systems. Accurately demonstrate BLS procedures in accordance with current United Kingdom Guidance, as contained in the 8th edition first aid manual. Accurately demonstrate automated external defibrillation procedures in accordance with current United Kingdom guidance, as contained in the current edition first aid manual. Demonstrate the use of the resuscitation face shield with and without high flow oxygen as adjunct to resuscitation. Understand the importance of administering high flow oxygen to a patient in the recovery phase. Explain the importance of regular audit and maintenance of emergency resuscitation equipment. Understand the safe operating parameters associated with the AED equipment currently in use by employer. Convey BLS and AED knowledge and skills to others. General Trainers Certificate Courses Duration: 3 days Course Details: This General Trainers Certificate is for all candidates who are either new to training, need updating or just want to learn a new skill. The course is intensive, interactive, hands-on but most of all fun. Manual Handling Trainer Course (3 days)
Duration: 3 days Course Syllabus: Discuss any legislation that affects them, their job, their employer and employee: The Manual Handling Operations Regulations, 1992 The Health & Safety at Work Act, 1974 The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations, 1999 The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations, 1998 The Human Rights Act, 1998 The Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations, 1998 Identify vulnerability to injury when undertaking Manual Handling tasks Answer questions on the workings of the spine and how to reduce the risk of spinal injury List the principles of biomechanics and how they can be applied to the efficient movement of clients Discuss ergonomics as a means for the reduction of Manual Handling injury Explain the importance of Risk Assessment and the ability to undertake Manual Handling Risk Assessment List commonly used ‘unsafe lifting practices’, Manual Handling manoeuvres (as given in ‘The Guide to the handling of patients’, 4th Edition), and explain why some of these manoeuvres have been ‘condemned’ Practically demonstrate the skills to undertake Manual Handling manoeuvres more safely in their specific working environment, and Manual Handling aids Convey Manual Handling Knowledge and skill to others.
